Chlo's Blog - April 14th - New Girl on the Block
New blog, same everything else will think of something profound and witty to put here later......
Reserved for horses
Reserved for facilities
Reserved just in case I come up with something cool to put here
First post in clean blog I got rid of the old one because I didn't like how messy it had turned out, so here we are.
And so, without further ado, let me introduce you to the first picture in this brand spanking new blog!
Everyone, meet Melody Smith and one of the 3 horses Richard bought at a recent local auction. He's an 8 year old bay Welsh D stallion, who loves nothing more than to dawdle around the paddock and will gladly spend hours inspecting everything (and everyONE) he meets. We call him Spaniel around the yard, but his fancy name is Captain Slow.
(Bonus point for you if you get that reference).
Will hopefully be updating this blog a bit more regularly and with better pics than our last effort, since we've now finished our degree.......and we're just waiting for a job.......sigh
His fancy name is Captain Slow.
Kinda disappointed his barn name isn't James.
Nice to see a Welsh D around! I've a fondness for the breed and have long thought about adding one to Lowmax. Someday in the future, perhaps. Until then, I'll have to keep an eye on Jame- Spaniel. Spaniel. (the fluff on his fetlocks is so cute )
Will you be resuming your column, or keeping this new style of posting for your new blog? C: (and congratulations on finishing your degree! )
@Ariadne-Waters Haha, I did seriously consider making his barn name James, but thought Spaniel was more unique and a bit less obvious......you can call him James though
And yes, we will still be keeping the column going, don't worry!
OMG captain slow! I get that reference. though i'm with @Ariadne-Waters, i wish you'd named him james (a mare would totally carry the barn name 'may', right?
looking forward to seeing this blog grow
(congrats! finishing a degree always makes you feel i remember i did haha)
@Siri-Kane GAH! Damn it you two lol 😂 I may just have to change it now 😏 thanks for the lovely words, both of you! Xx 😘
It only made sense - we already had a horse called Hamster, then we bought two other horses from a local auction who needed new names…..it just fell into place……
So, ladies and gentlemen, I give you: Jezza, Hamster, and Captain Slow.
Featuring the second of our new horses in this pic I wanted to make horse versions of the trio ever since I created Hamster way back in 2016, and I finally managed to create versions of them that I loved (they were originally Clydesdales, but I lost enthusiasm for those versions quite quickly, so they just sat in my bin for ages!). Jezza became a 9 yo Oldenburg stallion, and James became a 7yo Welsh D (you've already met him, but still).
And yes, Siri and Ariadne, I caved and changed Spaniel's barn name to James so now you can both be happy, lol!
Will hopefully be posting another coupla edits later this week, a special update for Amelia!
Just a wee lil sneak peek of our new (yep…..I’ve rebuilt…..again…..) facilities.
They’re smaller this time, and with much more of a focus on having our horses out in paddocks - we do live in Australia, after all, and keeping them cooped up in stalls just seems counter-productive……why not let them enjoy the sunshine?
More photos will come, as soon as we finish moving in!
I was so sure I'd commented here already It made me so happy to see Hamster again! And I find endless amusement in the two others too, I think Captain Slow is my favourite, I love Welshies <3
And your facilities...I'm coming to move in, okay?
@Callixta-Rosella hehe, you definitely commented on our old blog, but not this new one welcome back lol! And I always love your comments darl, you always make me smile when you write them And Hamster says 'hello!'. You're always welcome to come visit, I know one little TB stallion who would love some extra cuddles
Our two new thoroughbred girls - who are already thick as thieves even after just a few weeks together - Allman Brothers Jessica (Jess) and FC Wicked Folly (Flick); who was an import request from @Idoya-Cinta. Jess is in our eventing team, while Flick has joined the ranks of our show jumpers. Love having these two gals in our yard!
They're both gorgeous girls! They seem to be getting along with each other super well
We tried to do a Christmas photoshoot with (easily) our most recognisable and famous horse. It didn't go quite according to plan......
Those carrots were for the reindeer, Hamster! Urgh.......cheeky sod.....
Happy (belated) 2019 everyone! (I get the feeling I started 2018 in my old blog with the exact same thing......)
Now, I can finally reveal what I've been doing over the Christmas/New Year break, since I don't have any uni work to do anymore..... wonders what to do with her life
And that thing is......official profiles! So here we go; some of you have probably seen these on my Tumblr already, but I thought I'd post them here too nothing like a bit of a double-up aye?
Still with us? Your computer hasn't died? Well that's good
It always makes me smile so much to see you around, and your gorgeous pixels too. I hope life is treating you well
Meet Miss Outback Charm (aka Rusty); the Northlands Pony who was our project for Nikki's Random Breed Challenge I wasn't sure about her at first, but through making her and editing this photo I sort of fell in love with her.......damn you Nikki
Also, that mane took me forever.......
OMG i saw Doongara's profile and tha fact that their nickname is "boo" and it makes me LOL because I love Buzzfeed Unsolved and Ryan Bergara who is constantly afraid of "ghosts" so this made me smile.
@Siri-Kane She's actually based off a horse my family bred when I was 9 - a quarter horse x GRP by FS Golden Storm. When she was born, we called her 'Baby Boo', cause we didn't have a name for her, until we came up with the name Doongara - which in one Indigenous language (I've forgotten which one atm) means 'Lightning', because of the marking on her face, and the fact that she was born on a stormy night in October.
She's now (I believe) in Western Australia being someone's loving and wonderful mount
See her real-life self, renamed Nightwishes when the lady we sold her to sold her on to a stud specialising in GRPs.
