    Story/Roleplay [optional]:

Rush is a fine example of one of Andrea's impulse purchases. A weird breed, in a discipline that we do not or rarely participate in, all Rush is missing is color. Yes, he isn't quite "colorful" enough for Andrea. Typical. That didn't stop her from showing up an hour late to the barn one day, trailer in tow, giggling as she led Rush off and into the barn.
    --
    "Guyssss, look at his ears!!!"
    --
Yes, Andrea, his ears are adorable.

    Wa-lk aro-und the seve-nth ring,

It's easy to forget, when it's presented in a tasteful, prim and proper arena.

    Li-sten to the sha-dows sing,

It's near impossible to imagine the ghosts of the field, where once these movements were performed for reasons less innocent than historical display. It's rendered sterile, academic: free of the carnage, the bloodshed, the visceral reality of a battlefield where technology was on the cusp of outpacing the most graceful instruments of war.

    Pray for light,
But kno-w the night won't end.

The mangalara was not bred for battle. In fact, they weren't even bred in the same country that taught these movements, though it exists in their blood. The Iberian influence is too hard to ignore, telling the story of the Lusitano, intermixed with Barbs and Brazilian natives, to create this noble saddlehorse. Gaited, too; bred for comfort, and not for the fight.

So how this particular animal came to return to the country of his forefathers and learn airs above the ground is... certainly a question worth asking.

Gre-et the souls you kne-w before,

The iberian blood serves him well in the task, as if he'd been born and bred in the country his whole life, the generations separating him and those founding Spanish horses manifesting only in the curious cadence of his gaits, and the contrast of the dun marks that accent his pale coat.

    Enli-st them i-n your ho-peless war,

For all the violent history, there remains something enthralling about the sight of it. The tensing of muscle, the hops, skips, leaps and bounds, horses throwing themselves into the air under careful guidance. It's easy to forget that the levade was trained to spare the rider from bayonet and saber. It's easy to forget that the meticulous choreography of the march and file served as prelude to infantry-smashing charges.

It's easy to forget that the most celebrated of the airs, the capirole, with its whip-crack snap of hooves, was trained to kill.

'Cause glory doesn't need a reason, friend.

Story/Roleplay [optional]: The phone rang on the bedside table waking Katja from a deep sleep. She answered and was greeted by the news that a longtime family friend, Martin Cosek had passed away the day before. He was an elderly gentleman that Katja and Lucien had met during a local schooling show where they often took the younger Arabians to get experience. Katja had been mesmerized by the beautiful Marwari Martin always competed in the Park Pleasure classes. The horse was extremely talented and so one day she asked him why he was showing him in these small schooling shows instead of nationally since he clearly had the talent. Martin had explained to her that he had shown nationally in his youth and now at 75 he just wanted to have some fun with his boy Dash as he called him. They struck up a friendship from there and Katja was always pleased to run into Martin and Dash at the local shows. It was sad news indeed to hear of his passing. She would miss seeing him and his beautiful stallion at the shows.

A few days later she was surprised to see a horse trailer pull up to the stable entrance. They were not expecting any new horses. She was even more surprised to see inside the trailer was Martin's beloved boy Dash. The driver of the truck handed her some paperwork indicating that Martin's wish was that she take Dash upon his passing. Katja unloaded the stallion from the trailer and was once again struck by his beauty. She had no idea where a Marwari would fit into their plans but she would keep him as it was her friends last wish for the horse that he loved so much.

    Story/Roleplay [optional]:

We got Moose on what was a straight up dare. Or close friend found a service that will send you a random horse from their lot, all promised to have basic training but beyond that you're getting a wild card. Alex wasn't for it, he thought we had enough horses as is (which we do) and taking a risk on a mystery pull wasn't worth it when fancier, known stock was available out there. Blake on the other hand, was all for it.

She was even more for it when they heard braying from the stock trailer coming towards them. Alex groaned, of course it was some mangy mule. However, he was taken somewhat aback when a pretty decent looking mule backed off of the trailer. "Well Blake, he's not bad looking, so he's at least not a total dud..." His words pretty much fell on deaf ears as Blake loved on the new addition.

Alex turned out to be fully wrong about him, we let one of our trail leaders try him out and he was a complete angel. Nothing phased the jack as we led him out on the trail with some of our normal packers. He was so eager to go and listen that we decided to take him over to an Extreme Mountain Trail course to try him out. He and Heather had a blast, he took every obstacle with confidence and ease and listened to her pretty much every step.

Needless to say, he's a keeper.

It was a dark, rainy morning. The clouds seemed so close to the ground, almost if they wished to join us. It was silent, and I could hear her heavy breath.
I swallowed and took the first step forward, approaching the trailer where Ana quietly held the animal.

She was never supposed to be here.
The ebony black, misterious mare. Her deep amber eyes seemed to hold centuries of history.
You could almost see England farm workers plowing their land with heavy, tough ponies. You feel the cold rain. You hear the thunders. You walk onto mud.
You could amost hear the army calling for young teenagers to fight a war that isn't theirs. You feel their fear. You hear their mothers' cries. You know the feeling of goodbye.
You could almost see England battles. You feel your blade sticking into their bodies. You hear their enemies' screams. You feel their blood hot against your skin.
You could almost watch mothers waiting for their husbands' and sons' return. You hear the announcement of their deaths. You taste their tears. You feel a woman's despair.

It's all on her eyes. Amber eyes. A beautiful creature whose eyes don't show a single sign of fear. nor doubt. Her soul seems wiser, older than any, and yet, her body so young.
I couldn't explain my sudden respect, fear of the little creature before me. The feeling she brought me as soon as I stared into those eyes slapped me in the face. Hard. Very hard.
She was never supposed to be here.
''She stays'' I said, turning my back around and walking into the barn as Ana lead the mare behind me.

    Story/Roleplay [optional]:

After Havelland was growing evermore - despite any planning and my intentions - we also were forced to expand our team. Luckily we had the opportunity to meet some more competition riders and could win over Paul and Paulina Willhelm, two siblings who already have experience in high levels even up to GP. Paul, the older of the two, is also father of 7 year old Leon, who just recently started to take riding lessons with two of our older mares, Perlenkette and Feuerzauber. But, as boys will be boys, Leon shortly got bored of the standard english lessons and wanted to try something new. So Paul and his wife Martina decided that it was best to support this curiosity and let Leon choose a discipline he wanted to explore. Being a fan of cowboys and the wild west, watching movies like Winnetou and Lucky Luke with his father he soon decided to try out Mountain Trail ... and requested a fitting horse. Well, the boy could have chosen a warmblood to take him into the woods, yet, Paul and Martina felt like it was also a good time to let him take responsibility of a horse of his own. A fitting match was found rather slow, but carefully though. Leon, being a firece cowboy by heart, wanted to start with a Quarter Horse or even better a wild Mustang right away. His parents, however, tried to convince the boy to take back a step ... or two. Paul contacted Daniella, the co-owner of Heron Stable and Havelland, who now lives in the US with her husband. She could pass him along to a breeder of Appendix Quarter Horses, American Shetland Ponies and ... Ponies of the Americans. Several e-mail exchanges later, the Willhelm family found their young cowboy his eagerly awaited dream pony - a dunalino appaloosa mare called Daisy. Three weeks later, the little girl arrived at the TXL Airport in Berlin and could be brought home save and sound. On the pictures you can see Leon trying her out on the Eventing lot (and now also Mountain Trail lot as it seems) with his father after the little mare had some time to settle for a few days. We think that they make quite the little team already.
