Pricing guidelines/stud fees?
I am wondering what guidelines people are using these days to figure out how much to sell/breed a horse.
I really do not think there is a guide to putting the price on sales or on stud fees. It depends on who sells the horse and how the horse is (generation, points, discipline. breed,...).
There are people who set a base price, and that price increases depending on the horse's discipline bonus.
When it comes to stud fees I just take $100/discipline point.
How @Therese-Lind does it is common. I used to do it that way myself but lately I've gone to a base price based on the amount of points. Anybody with 200 or more points for example will cost a flat fee of $35k for a traditional breeding and $20k for a BIY.
Thank you. I have multi-generation racing TBs with decent pedigree bonus and title bonuses which is what I'm trying to figure out... how much to price their fees and their foals' price when they're for sale.
I charge 2k for every bonus point the foal gets. And 5-10k for a traditional breeding on top.
I am doing the $100/per point as well
